Just came into some cherry brandy (Ableforth’s) and gave this old recipe a go. Definitely on the tart side, but a nice, less tiki Sling nevertheless. Would agree that a drop of pineapple would slightly sweeten and improve this.
I have made this version once like this and once with a splash of pineapple juice. Is it intentionally left out here? This is a nice drink but very different from the Difford or Dale DeGroff versions and I think a small amount of pineapple juice improves it.
Agreed. I prefer with pineapple juice, but it is argued that the above recipe based on Old Tom is nearer to Boon's original 1899-1915 recipe. Please click link above in History for more info.
