I'm an unabashed fan of Willett whiskey and Old Bardstown 101 proof with my fave Luxardo Triplum was a devastatingly delectable combo in this when served up. I might get in trouble with this drink. Did NOT think this lineup of ingredients would gel. I love being wrong.
What a perfect Tiki drink if you are having people who like Bourbon or Whiskey over rum. We used 2/3s of the sugar syrup, and still found it a bit sweet; however, being from Trader Vics that is understandable. For a less sweet version I would omit the sugar syrup entirely.
I love this cocktail. The sharp burn of bourbon is a great balance to the sweetness of the orgeat. Personally I add a pinch of salt to tone down the sweetness.
