I recommend trying to get hold of Mandarine liqueur as this fruit gives the predominant flavour, supported by orange vodka in the background. The apple component is so subtle, it seems to serve as a "carrier" for the citrus flavours enhanced by the small amount of Campari (I used probably only 5 ml). A lovely, fruity concoction and a showcase for the Napoleon Mandarine in centre stage.

I tried with Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla, Grand Mariner and Campari. A great balanced aperitivo.

I didn't have orange Vodka so used Citrus Vodka instead. Excellent cocktail, very well balanced. Either get some orange Vodka or maybe use Aperol instead to punch up the orange notes.

For practical reasons I did this cocktail with Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla gin instead of orange flavored vodka. In this combination the Italian red bitter (Campari) was much too dominant. I would suggest to reduce it to 0,5cl or even switch to a less bitter one. Aperol might be an interesting alternative.

Could be the juniper and other notes in the adding dryness and bitterness. Thanks to your comment, I've just tried this cocktail again for the first time in years. I made it with Ketel One Oranje Vodka and Grand Marnier and then with Oranje Vodka and Manadrine Napoleon as, given the name, seemed appropriate. This second version was delicious - so much so that I have amended the recipe above.
