Finally! A good use for the dusty bottle of Contratto Fernet in my cabinet.

First sip is all sherry and rosso. Second sip, hmm, now I'm getting a soft swell of the Chartreuse and Fernet. Wait (depending on your brand or recipe; my house variety is on point) and, a few beats into the aftertaste, the grenadine does briefly bloom. Kind of remarkable... Let the drink sit, and the flavors marry, and the edge of the sherry tames, and this becomes a fine sipper. Well, I never...

Wow. Much better than I anticipated.

Lacking Amontillado I used Fino and still ended up with a lovely, complex and balanced drink. Will definitely be making again.
