found this cocktail and got excited to use Botanist gin and Port Charlotte scotch from the same distillery. I wanted to like it but it kinda tasted like cardboard to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’d say my favourite gin and scotch cocktail thus far. Bowmore 12 added light smokiness, but definite malty character, depth and body. Angostura orange bitters work better than Bitter Truth here. Very dry. Definitely added to the repertoire!
Found this to be a delightfully interesting and savory martini with Hendricks Neptunia and Lagavulin 8 for the most Scottish martini I could imagine...
Tough one to make, I feel. You have to get the "correct" ingredients for your taste. Maybe Laphroaig 10 fits better for a smokier hint than Ardbeg. The gin is key as well; maybe a sweeter one would make it better.
Great martini. Nice hint of smoky from the Whisky, and good herbal from the gin. As with any martini, the quality of the gin and whisky will be key. Bitters add a nice hint of orange.
