I have tried this twice now, the first time as per recipe and the second time slightly increasing the gin to 1.25oz, as for me, the original ratio was too sweet (and I quite enjoy a sweet cocktail). I think now it may not be the sweetness that I reacted to the first time, but rather the heavy presence of orange. If I try this a third time, I will reduce the OJ to 1/2 or maybe 3/4 oz to see if this improves the overall balance. Having said that, as per other comments, the orange may appeal to those adverse to a classic Negroni.
