Glowing red, the Negroni manages to be both sophisticated and simple at the same time and is definitely for a grown-up palate - for many it's simply too...
You might also like to try the Charlie Pie: 40ml gin, 30 sweet vermouth, 10 Campari, lemon twist. Arguably had an equally estimable heritage, and a completely different balance.
I finally got around to making the Charlie Pie as you suggested, which is definitely not as bitter as a regular Negroni but is definitely more sweeter in taste, with the saline solution being a nice touch, so overall I would rate this cocktail a 4.5 stars the rating could be higher or lower if I had some Chocolate Bitters on hand, which I currently do not have based on your comment on the Charlie Pie
