Why is it only 3.5*? It is a really nice drink. I will say I didn't use egg white. It was rich but wonderfully balanced and fruity. Maybe the lower rating was because the Bourbon got lost. I used Maker's Mark, but I wonder how it would be with a higher strength Bourbon.

Why is it that anything I put grenadine in turns out much redder than your pics?

I may have used homemade grenadine from fresh pomegranate juice. Commercial grenadines have added colouring so produce much redder cocktails.
