A daiquiri variant for those who really want to be knocked off their feet. Not all overproof white rums are made the same, though, so use one you like the flavour of.
This is a perfect cocktail for those who want a rum forward cocktail. Made as described and found the cocktail very flavourful and refreshing. Was nice and warming on a cold winter night, but would be cooling on a hot day. Will try again with other overproof rums/rhums in my collection. Definitely on my favourites for this life-time rum drinker.
I had to create an account to add my two sense and that is... This is a very loose and bizzare addition. Ti-punch deserves its own place on the top with rhum agricole. Planteurs punch another spot on the podium with fresh juice. But to add angos to what is essentially a daiquiri, I'm a bit put off on the whole thing. Overproof rum has its valour, but to add refined sugar or any sort or ice without asking deserves a proper slap on the wrists. I would never dare serve such a drink. JMHO
When I tried this the very intense ester notes of the rum did. let me think it could benefit from some oaky backbone. But of course, as always, this remains a matter of taste.
In this photo the liquid in the glass appears quite dark for just only 2 dashes of Ango. Could it be that this was made with dark rather than with white rum?
