The Dark 'N Stormy cocktail (note the single apostrophe) is so key to the sales of Gosling's Black Seal Rum that the family owners of the rum were one of the first to trademark their signature cocktail in the late 1970s. Over the decades since it has become the unofficial "national drink of Bermuda".
Made with Gosling's Black Seal Rum, ginger beer and lime, the family have spent millions of dollars promoting their Dark 'N Stormy serve, so it's understandable that they should want to protect it from others benefitting from their investment.
