Lovely sipper. Great "Red Hook" riff. I was first concerned that without the punch of the Rye, the Maraschino would take over. It did not, and this is Lovely. Will be trying with a quality Añejo Tequila next!

Very, very dry. All I have is a grocery store Very Dry Sherry so I likely need a higher quality to really determine if this is right. I do taste the complexity of this however; its deep with the rye and the walnut bitters.

Jeffrey Moore

Yes, Px Sherry is very sweet, very rich and strong, lovely raisins. No substitute for it, imo.

This is fantastic. Notes of Plum seem to roll all through the finish. Used Sipsmiths Sloe, Oxley LD. Cynar is subdued in this, but seems to have used its energy to reign in the Sloe from being all you taste.

Lovely sipper. Añejo as the base is a great call. I have a homemade chili liqueur I fashioned after Ancho Reyes. I also used Fee Bros Mole bitters in lieu of the Chocolate.

Fantastic Brooklyn riff! There are many, but this one is terrific. I cannot believe I've not had it before. Original used Chamomile infused rye. It is not needed, however.

This is fantastic! I originally found it on Fred Yarm's site. He knows the creator. Lovely drink. Made it a few times. Always serve mine up in a coupe.

Far to sweet for my palate. Therefore, I went back with the traditional 2 oz , 1/2 oz & 1/2 oz ratio. That was the ticket. Just used Monkey Shoulder, and it was nice. But, can see a wee bit of smoke and complexity being another level too.

A lot will depend on the Rye you choose. I suggest a "Barely Legal" Rye (51% rye) like a Sazerac or Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse is sweeter. In this particular cocktail, that is what I'd use next time due to the dryness of this cocktail. A higher rye mashbill would be too dry, imo.

Read the reviews after I'd had the cocktail. I liked it well enough. Nice spiciness from the Mezcal, bitter, botanicals, and I'd almost would have went with grapefruit peel over orange. In the end...meh. It's OK. I'd be inclined to make a riff with the 1.5 oz to be Rye, and the .5 oz an Islay Scotch. Hmm.. Cocktails are just fun

Lovely sipper. Love the wee bit of bitter in the Cocchi & Montenegro. I'd be tempted to dry it out ever so slightly & split the Cocchi with Noilly Prat Dry. But, Lovely cocktail that I can also see really working with Ransom Old Tom for more complexity.

A killer cocktail! Love it. Used Diplomatico Reserva & subbed Bigallet China-China for the Picon. Phenomenal drink. Velvety, rich, fruit, botanicals, and the orange oils are terrific in it.

Late to the party on this one, but, this is a phenomenon drink. I was scared when I saw a full .5 oz of px with the sweet of DOM. I thought it would be too sweet. It isn't. I do, however, recommend a higher proof Bourbon (Wild Turkey 101, Old Forester 100, etc). The lemon peel & oil is essential as well. Everything you want in a nightcap.

Very easy drinking sipper. Tad on the sweet side for me, so I toned down the Bonal to .75 oz, & the Triple Sec to s wee bit under 1/2 oz. You get spicy Rye, sweet orange fruit, slight bitter & silky texture.

Chivas 12 and alvear 1927 pedro ximenez, lovely, next time more sherry and less brown sugar for even more sherry influence for me. maybe 10/5

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. PX is so sweet, I was thinking of omitting the sugar altogether

Lovely sipper. I upped the Scotch to 1 3/4 oz. I like the Noilly Prat in this as well. I think Dolin would get lost.
You taste everything, every flavor in this, and it has good balance. It is a silky, easy drinking cocktail. Dangerously so!🍸

Lovely sipper. You get taste everything in this, and in proportion. I did up the Scotch to 1 3/4 oz. Good call on the Noilly Prat as well. I think a Dolin would get lost in this one.

Looked like a Little Italy Riff & I love the Little Italy. Therefore, I was all in. However, even though I used a Torino Vermouth, as well as having sweetness from the Cynar, this was a very dry cocktail for me. I ended up adding some Gran Marnier & imo, liked it much better.
I think an Old Tom Gin would work better in this drink. Ransom Old Tom would be my recommendation

We had run out of Armagnac and Cognac but, undeterred, reached for our bottle of Avallen Calvados. Worked very nicely for us. Next time, we might nudge the contribution of the Amaro up a bit at the expense of the Cacao.

Jeffrey Moore

I also found I favor 1/4 on the Crème de Cacao. Little too sweet for me with a full 1/2.
I might even consider 1/6 or a hefty barspoon

This looks like a killer! I have to try this one asap.

Just made it; lovely. Surprised, given the orange in the CiaCiaro, that he didn't use orange peel. However, the lemon peel is terrific in this one. Used Godet Vsop.
