I use 12 drops, but the original states 2 dashes. Depends on your choice of bitters and size of dash.

Wait, is it 12 drops of bitters or two? The Difford's recipe and the OG seem to differ.
Contents of my cabinet required that I try this with something only lightly peaty. It registered as the following, in order of occurrence: intriguing, delicious, odd as hell.
Much improved by a dash of campari and a dash of syrup from the maraschino cherries, at least to my tastes.
So much softer and more refreshing than I was expecting. Finally, a negroni(sh) that I can foist upon my negroni hating friends.
Might just be my taste but I think it benefits from a barspoon or so of syrup from the jar of maraschino cherries.
