You could try, but it will create a different cocktail that may be a little sweet.

I experimented with a ChatGPT suggestion of 35ml creme de peche and 5ml of noilly prat dry vermouth and it was a pleasant drink, unlike some of the other ChatGPT suggestions I've had the misfortune of trying!

Strange there are no cocktails with Madeira in them when I search for Madeira. I could've sworn I came across rainwater madeira in the book, but maybe it was another book I'm confusing it with.

If you put "lion's tail" in the search field and press enter it doesn't find it. It finds it if you use the "autoccomplete" dropdown but not as a free search.

What I love about this drink is that you can swap out the cherry brandy with pretty much any liqueur and it works! Minor adjustments needed here and there but it's a really great template.

I gave this a 5 with 1738 cognac. I gave it 3.5 with some other cognac which I don't remember. Cognac based drinks to me are those that are most dependent on which exact base spirit you use to determine whether or not it will be a nice cocktail or a terrible cocktail!

I'm surprised the original Valencia is not on the site. It's basically the same drink but without Champagne and is delicious. 45 ml apricot, 22.5 ml orange juice, 4 dashes orange bitters shaken with ice.

I found this to be way too sharp. 10ml of syrup made it a lot more palatable.

Even better, rather than adding 10ml of syrup, reduce the 30ml of lime juice to 15ml and there is a much better overall balance.
