On Monday, Erik Lorincz walked into The Fizzy Tarte bar on Lake Windemere for a cocktail. He was accompanied by Nathan Shearer, Nidal Ramini, Cam Dawson and myself. This was the first stop on our tour around bars in the North of England to meet bartenders and sample the cocktails they entered in to Tennessee Calling II. Our task was to choose the three bartenders to fly to New York this weekend to present their cocktails during a guest shift at the world famous Dead Rabbit.
To travel between Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester involved much frenzied running along platforms in an epic test of the Northern England’s rail connectivity. The British rail network proved to be poor, but the cocktails made by the talented bartenders we met made standing in vestibules due to a lack of seats on trains more than worthwhile.
Due to the quality of their presentations and recipes, three bartenders were given just three days’ notice to pack their bags and prepare for the trip of a lifetime to New York and the Jack Daniels Distillery in Tennessee to present their signature cocktails. The deserving three are Tatjana Titimova (Épernay Bar, Manchester), Charlotte Coyle (Filter + Fox, Liverpool) and Josh Davies (The Hedonist Project, Leeds).
