Released in 2007 and distinctive due to its bright orange top, Angostura orange bitters are made to a closely guarded secret recipe: "a blend of citrus essence, oils from bitter and sweet oranges, herbs and spices."

It only took Angostura 183 years to get round to making another variety of their famous bitters. But then things are pretty laidback in Trinidad – as demonstrated by Angostura's distinctive outsized label, which began life as a printing error that staff were too relaxed to fix.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/01/2011

Appearance:

.

Aroma:

Satsuma oranges with slightly soapy notes.

Taste:

Zesty orange with hints of blood orange juice and just enough dry bitterness.

Aftertaste:

A comfortable amount of cardamom and coriander, this sits somewhere between Fee Brothers and Regan's No.6 on the spiciness scale.
