Passoã Porn Star Martini Competition FAQ

Q. Tell us more about the competition:
A. Passoã is launching a competition to find NEW cocktails made using Passoã Passion Fruit Liqueur. Their aim is to raise awareness of Passoã in cocktails, to discover new cocktails inspired by the Porn Star Martini, which included Passoã as one of its original ingredients, and to encourage creativity and community sharing of these recipes. The competition will be hosted on Difford's Guide and the winners awarded prizes.

Q. Why should a bartender or home cocktail enthusiast enter?
A. This is a high-profile competition open to bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts in the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Spain, UK, USA (plus France, if you are entering as a professional bartender). There are two 1,000 Euro cash prizes to be won and further prizes for the winners and runners-up. It's easy and fun to enter.

Q. How to enter?
A. Simply complete the short form on the Enter page. If you are already a Difford's Guide member and logged in, then only professional bartenders will be asked to give details of the bar they are presently working in. If you are new to Difford's Guide then you'll be asked for some additional information to become a member before uploading your cocktail recipe.

Q.Can an alternative brand of passion fruit liqueur be used?
A. No. Recipes must include a minimum of 20ml (3/4oz) Passoã Passion Fruit Liqueur.

Q.What ingredients are permitted?
A. Only items appearing in our list of commonplace ingredients along with Passoã Passion Fruit Liqueur may be used in recipes.

Q. Can homemade shrubs, cordials, purees and liqueurs, made only using ingredients from the commonplace ingredients list, be used?
A. No! Only ingredients from the commonplace ingredients list can be used without the need for any pre-preparation, combining, cooking or infusion.

Q. Can I use homemade syrups?
A. You can use homemade syrups only if commercially made alternatives are widely available. E.g. sugar syrup, orgeat, grenadine, raspberry syrup etc. Please be aware that commercial syrups tend to be equivalent brix to homemade 2 parts sugar to 1 part water (measured by volume) syrups. Please note that for judging purposes the commercial equivalent syrup will be used.

Q. Can I use homemade infusions?
A. You can use homemade infusions only if commercially made alternatives are widely available. E.g. vanilla vodka, pineapple rum, and spiced rum. Please note that for judging purposes the commercial equivalent infusion will be used.

Q. Can non-bartenders enter?
A. Yes, this competition is for professional bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts with prizes for both groups of entrants. In France the competition is open only to professional bartenders.

Q. Is someone going to come to my bar to taste my cocktail?
A. No, all you have to do is upload your recipe along with a photograph of your cocktail.

Q. What evaluation criteria will be applied for judging?
A. The most delicious yet easy-to-replicate recipes will receive the highest scores. The name of each cocktail will also greatly impact the score. Taste = 40%; Name = 20%: Ease to replicate = 25%; Photograph = 5%; Originality = 10%

Q. Will my image of the cocktail appear on Difford's Guide?
A. Yes your image will appear on your Difford's Guide recipe page. Your image will help the judging panel.
