The term 'travel retail' and 'duty free' markets primarily refer to commerce conducted at airports, on airlines, on ferries, on cruise-lines, at international train stations and at border stores between travelling customers and suppliers of goods. This commerce does not attract duty or local taxes (except for people travelling on intra-EU journeys) because the goods are sold in international territory beyond the national frontier and the customer can therefore enjoy savings on the domestic market prices.
