Today I tried a nice different recipe for serving Pisco Punch straight up, found on the german "Mixology" webpage. You muddle 5 pieces pineapple, add 6 cl Pisco, 1,5 cl Lillet Rouge (or mild red vermouth), 1,5 cl Lime juice, 2 cl Gomme Syrup (or simple syrup), shake it and aromatize and decorate the ready drink with an orange zest. This recipe is worth a try ;-).
A spicy Pisco juicy sour. It's very well made. None of the ingredients stand out yet they all play a part. Don't ignore the cloves, though — they're really what makes this drink unique.
I tinkered with this out of necessity, and whilst I can't compare with the original it was, nevertheless, rather pleasing. Instead of muddling cloves, I used a 1/4 shot of Falernum, and instead of Champagne, I used 1/2 of a miniature bottle of Codorniu Cava that had been languishing in the back of the fridge. The perfect accompaniment to a night binging 'It's A Sin' on Channel 4.
