The senility may be kicking in at my age but I'm sure this used to be a 5+ cocktail. Though to achieve that rating one needs to follow the Meyer spec, to the letter. Any other suggestions for the Celery Gin?

Sherry, Chartreuse and Chili whats not to like. Delicious.
Fino sherry, Apricot liqueur, Cachaça, Gin
Fino sherry, Gin, Pink grapefruit juice, Honey & water syrup, Lemon bitters
Gin, Dry vermouth, Chartreuse Yellow, Olive bitters
Gin, Mezcal, Chartreuse Yellow, Orange-red aperitivo, (+ 3 more)
Gin, Chartreuse Yellow, Red bitter liqueur, Pink grapefruit juice, (+ 2 more)
Add a dash to a 4:1 vodka martini, preferably made with Dolin for an Arpitan Martini, garnished with an olive for a deliciously savoury aperitif. I stir but shake if you wish.
One of my favourite cocktails which I thouught would be difficult to improve on. Taylor's Velvet is good but Difford's/Bob's is better. Tonight I subbed Raicilla for Tequila and damn i know have to start rating with six stars! All hyperbole aside, Tequila fans, get some Raicilla in your drinks cabinet, you won't regret it.
As I had just purchased some Kummel (Mentzandorf) I was drawn to this 5+ star cocktail only to realise I'd used the last of my Blanco Tequila making a Blood Orange Tequila (highly recommended), so what to use as an alternative. Mezcal seemed obvious but I had also recently purchased a couple of bottles of Raicilla and decided to experiment with that. I chose La Venenosa Sierra Volcanes de Jalisco- the inferno link seemed fated. Wow, just wow! I will have to go back to the original, but WOW!
As it's Blood Orange season I'm working my way through the OJ cocktails that I possess the other ingredients for and renaming them accordingly. This has become Dracula's Whiskers obvs...
Great balance of bitter and sweet, and since I had some blood oranges...Red Sky cocktail.
Since it was Christmas and I had cranberry juice, I added a shot and a dash of orange bitters - Christmas Mule! (alternatively, as it's a cross between a Moscow Mule and a Cosmopolitan, Cos-Play Mule!}
Calvados apple brandy, Lemon juice, Absinthe, Gin, (+ 2 more)
I stumbled across this recipe whilst surfing your site, unfortunately I didn't have lemons but did have limes which seemed more appropriate for a Brazilian cocktail. The green of the limes along with the yellow of the Chartreuse Jaune reminded me of the colours of the Brazilian flag, so I call my twist Ordem e Progresso
Not having rose water I swapped the cane sugar syrup out and used the rose syrup that I'd purchased for the Rosalia Margarita recipe. A tasty little number with a delicate pink hue.
A deliciously complex interplay of flavours
I had a little tinker with this, swapped pink grapefruit juice for the lemon juice, honey syrup (3:1, using London Honey from the London Honey Company) instead of sugar syrup, upping the quantity to 1/3 shot, a couple of dashes of lemon bitters (Lem-Marrakech from Bittered Sling) and a lemon zest garnish. I call it Peckham Calling, it's where both myself and some of the honey bees live!
I use a half shot of Falernum in place of the cloves, a tad sweeter but tasty nonetheless. Will be trying with Bob's Falernum next.
This is a delicious cocktail and well deserving of it's modern classic status.
Delicious, great balance of flavours. Quality artisan honey helps, as does the hint of salt from a top notch Fino (or Manzanilla). Will taste even better in the heat of summer.
Both this and the Green Puritan are delicious . However, as is my wont, I had to tinker with this, especially after receiving a bottle of Cuckoo Solace Gin which includes olives amongst its botanicals. So I swapped the orange bitters for olive bitters and garnished with a Gordal olive. It worked for me, and I call it a Lapsed Catholic, (Dirty Puritan seemed a bit too obvious!).
