I'll join the chorus here and say this is even better than I expected.

We didn't have the Mandarine, so used Luxardo Albicocca Apricot liqueur. All the ingredients shined through and the balance of sweetness and sour/dry was perfect. Certainly a cocktail to make reposado sing!

Looks like the new Pendennis Margarita has formalised this substitution! Looking forward to trying: https://www.diffordsguide.com/cocktails/recipe/40576/pendennis-margarita

Delicous! Mixed an italian mandarin liquor and a homemade one and did not use a bitter; the margarita is hugged by the sweetness of the fruit ^^

Just had this again with a very spicy Mexican dinner. Had forgotten how wonderful it is. Perfectly balanced with a light hint of mandarin.

Orange and tequila go so well together it’s almost criminal. The Mandarin liquor reigns in the sourness of the lime juice a smidge, but it’s still a recognisable margarita, albeit with a sweet citrus edge. This is a very good cocktail.

Tasty!

The bitter is not an option here it gives the meaning to coctktail which is rather flat without bitter.
If you don't have the Margarita bitter which will give a lot of freshness by pronouncing the agave at the expense of the fruity taste, you can put 10 drops of Angostura bitter in it which will give the whole thing more depth (at the expense of the freshness)

Made substituting the mandarin liqueur for M&S Clementine gin liqueur. Great margarita variation which accentuated the smokiness of the Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila I used.

Great suggestion, I’ve got some of that M&S clementine gin liqueur, need something to use it up. Looking forward to trying this.

Used 30ml white tequila, kept the rest the same. Produced a truly great cocktail. Will make again.

Great variation. Mandarine Napoleon gives a hint of orange and creates a refreshing margarita which is not sweet.
