We are big rum drinkers and love the earlier style cocktails. Really wanted to like this, but it fell flat a bit.
Didn't hate it, but also felt that it was missing something. The cocktail does mellow out the rum until it is not noticeable.
It is nice for an afternoon or brunch style cocktail.
If you love the flavours of rum, this is not your cocktail.

Very enjoyable, shows off the rum nicely while mellowing it. I used foaming bitters rather than egg/aquafaba.

Impeccable. The colour of the cocktail was a beautiful pink, and the rum, lime and grenadine were so wonderfully balanced. Used aquafaba, so not as foamy, unfortunately.

I used what I had: Flor de Caña 7... homemade grenadine using pomegranate molasses... The quality and character of the ingredients seems to very much matter here. And this was quality. Surprising showcase for the base spirit. (11 Jan 2023, 6:03a)

The name makes me curious is there any more backround to why its named like this?

I also found it mentioned in 1935 "Fancy Cocktails and how to mix them" with Ango and simple instead of grenadine
