Personally, i didn't like this cocktail at all, until... i made a few adjustments, by adding some fresh pineapple juice, (almost the same quantity again), next i added all the ice from the shaker and finally topped it all up with a good splash of lemonade, bingo, now tastes absolutely delicious! ( IMHO) much improved.
Improvements are one thing but you are discribing something completely different
Im sure it would be quite interesting with clementine! But the orange juice version tates unoriginal and somehow boring
Just picked up a bottle, very enjoyable. Shame none of the recipes on the site seem to use it
Honestly the only thing i dislike about this website. It is perfectly suited for a Planters Punch.
The name makes me curious is there any more backround to why its named like this?
I also found it mentioned in 1935 "Fancy Cocktails and how to mix them" with Ango and simple instead of grenadine

2:1:1 is on point for me. Also smoking it adds a nice touch :)
Ok how did you get that color? Mine looks like some premixed MaiTai from the store
What would be the specs with honey 3:1 syrup? I imagine it takes a while to get the honey dissolved with vodka
Okay wow maybe it's the bourbon (Jim Beam black extra aged) but I really don't like this. I know it's not the best bourbon out there but I think you can tell this drink predates the era of cocktails.
To be honest I am not a huge OF fan but this is a fun riff! Used a good "light bodied" Bourbon without a too strong character which is the way to go with this one I think
I switched from a more expensive local made coffee liqueur to Kahula and was really disapointed but this is a great cocktail and perfecly uses the rather sweet Kahula. Also soooo much better than a white russian
The thinking men's vodka orange or "mische" as we say in Germany

Hm I never made one but isn't this normally done with brandy?
Not as good as a Negoni but almost, and very interesting! Tho if you have a low value vermouth (namely Matrini) this improves a Negroni a lot!
Hi, maybe add Alabazam to a variations section, same on the Alabazam Page
I am suprised by diffords rating, I quite like this. One or two dashes of Angostura also improves that a lot
Any idea how it got the name?
Tastes like a MaiTai but.. just less intense somehow watered down.
Depending on how cheap of a vodka you use (why would you buy an expensive vodka? More taste of nothing?) this is suprisingly okay.
I really like this but it is a tad too sweet. I´d use 10ml or even 5ml of the simple. Also I think you mixed up the Review and History segments ^^
Abolutely love this with Tanqueray Rangpur
