Looking over the liqueur and syrup-dominated recipe, this mezcal-based Margarita meets the Last Word may appear to be sweet. However, the spec is deceiving...
Surprisingly good. A lot going on, but still a smooth, well balanced harmony of flavors. I used small hand foods orgeat which might have made it a bit dryer than spec, but I don't think it suffered much for it. Even the basil leaf garnish is spot on, if I make it again I might use a small sprig and clip it to the glass, as I found myself missing the basil aroma after the leaf eventually submerged itself in the cocktail.
Not to mention, a rather attractive cocktail, with a bright, almost florescent, slightly greenish yellow color.
It is delicious, but don't get fooled, it's a sweet drink. But just like the description says, it is incredibly well balanced and bold in flavors. I will make again.
You must try this, it’s delicious. The review above is exactly right, surprisingly well balanced with big flavours. It really does get better with each sip.
Holy hell, that’s good. And surprising. I happened to have all of these ingredients to hand, and am so glad I was looking for a way to use some mezcal today.
