One old favourite (Calvados) meets a new one. Given it’s high summer right now, perhaps not so seasonally appropriate, but solstice has passed so what the hey. Joining my other autumnal-year round favourites the Fall Back and the Fallen Leaves, both available at a diffords guide webpage near you 😉. This is the lightest bodied of the three.

Noticed that this is not a million miles from the classic Star cocktail, perhaps ultimately inspired by it?

I preferred this when not ‘too’ chilled - some warmth allowing the aromatics to express themselves to the ol’ olfactory bulb.

Wow, what a wonderful, complex flavored cocktail, yet simple to make. The Calvados and the Amaro just blend amazingly well. Outstanding.

This looks lovely. I wonder how it would work with Averna instead of Cardamaro. Only one way to find out!

Cocchi Vermouth Amaro would be a closer substitution for Cardamaro as another vermouth amaro.
