Just had this, as the last post mentioned, shocked how balanced it was! That funky S&C banana note was well matched by the bitterness and herbal-ness. A banger for me!
As Simon said before me, this is not for the faint of heart. I'm glad Difford decreased the volume by a third but it could've honestly been by like half, because the amount of dilution required is still enough for a "normal" cocktail.
Otherwise it's a very interesting cocktail. The combination of flavours brought out a bergamot taste I've never noticed in any of the ingredients before. If nothing else this is a great cocktail to find new flavours with!
I do wonder how upping the Chartreuse to 3:2:2 would work. Maybe it would stabilise the other ingredients. To be honest I kind of love/hate this cocktail. It's out of balance right now but I believe that with the right proportions this could become one of my favourites of all time.
Not for the faint of heart...even at the reduced volumes. In an attempt to calm this unruly cleric we added 10ml fino sherry and 5ml dry vermouth...better for us.
