My first time trying Suze! I’m drinking this as a nightcap instead of as an aperitif. May be a bit more bitter than intended, as I might have underdone the agave syrup and overdone the grapefruit bitters. Still tasty!
While I feel like I would agree with Frederic's review below, I did not have quite the satisfying experience I'd hoped. I think the x-factor is the Salers I used. I could imagine Suze (not currently in my stock) being the thing that ties this together. The Salers is just causing confusion.
The addition of the agave spirit was very inspired indeed. I tried the original version first (easier to add agave than to remove it...) and was rather underwhelmed. The added sweetness, however, helped the ingredients to merge harmoniously, and brought out the herbal tones of both the tequila and the vermouth.
