Dry and spirit-forward, as an old-fashioned should be, with hints of liquorice. It's dry, even with the 2.5ml of sugar I've added to Jason's original recipe...
Very nice "Old Fashioned" variant. I used Avallen Calvados & Remy Martin VSOP. Those two blended well together, with a little herbal bitterness from the Jagermeister, and just a touch of sweetness to take the edge off.
Perfect evening sipper. Nice and spirit forward. Must confess, I did use 2 parts calvados to 1 part applejack bottled-in-bond, giving a little extra kick. Would definitely have again.
