I find it curious that this revived technique is repeatedly credited to 2010, when we were using it fairly liberally - including variations such as stir or shake with slices - at M&H London at least as far back as 2006, perhaps further.

I found this article when making a Chanler, which was superb, however the recipe calls for a royal stir with a lemon swath (after expressing oils into the glass). I don’t think it would be as good with a lime swath, but you never know…cheers!

The spent lime husk shake also features in a few credible Mai Tai specs (as well as being a common garnish).

Just wanted to check this only changes the flavour of the cocktail? I.e. doesn't give a different mouth feel or look any different?

It may subtly influence mouthfeel.
