I used the last of my El Dorado 12 (and Benriach Smoky 12 for the scotch) - not much not to like here. Next time I'll mist some of the scotch as a garnish as well.
A sweet, enjoyable drink. I feel the rum stands apart perhaps a bit too much, but every few sips the smokey Islay whiskey shines through to offer a pleasant counterpoint to the Rum and Drambuie sweetness.
I'm curious which rum & Islay you used. I used Bacardi 8 year & Lagavulin 16 year and it was basically a smokey, sweet drink (in a good way), with the smoke very present in every sip.
