Great cocktail, did also try it with the Cynar 70.
Cynar 70 is really good stuff. I highly recommend it. Where the regular Cynar feels a little thin, this one is intense, much deper and full bodied. Has hints of menthol, licorice and even a fruit stew, wine-like nose. Much more pronounced artichoke aroma. Cough syrup also comes to mind (but in the good ways) ;-)
I would also recommend the Eeyore's Requiem and in the Cin-Cyn with it.
Must agree with the Cynar 70! That's all I get now. Have tried this with Bonal and a local product, Genziana Fernanda, and now with a first time bottle of Kina L' Aero d' Or. All very good!
Also to be more accurate when I wrote "Difford's review" I was refering to the Cynar 70 page. No sample was recieved to review. Unfortunate. I'd love Simon's take on this.
Greetings Patrick. Funny you should ask. Got the 70 then checked the recipes here and realized I probably should have started with the original which I have not tried. Diffords review says the 70 has double the flavor intensity of the original. Perhaps reducing by half might work better. Sipping on some neat right now. Excellent Amaro!
