Amazing, strong recommend. We used rose water (2.5 ml) to standard sugar syrup (7.5 ml) as we lacked the rose syrup, but it was excellently balanced (we also used blood orange gin).
The rose syrup is a bit basic in my opinion, so I think it's a good idea to replace it with rose water (5 ml) and rose-scented gin. Finish with 5 ml of normal sugar syrup (instead of the suggested 10 ml).
I've made these a few times and substituted the Rose syrup with Lanique (a Sweet roes liqueur). Also I generally prefer Don Julio over Patron so used the blanco and triple sec. With these changes this is an excellent drink. Today I received the bottle of Diffords saline solution I ordered and tried adding two drops.. wow. I have just finished reading David Arnold's "Liquid Intelegence" and whilst I have many times read of Simons passion for adding a drop or two until to day I hadn't realised. Wow
I needed something to try out my new rose syrup, so I made this with Lillet Blanc and orange bitters for the Cocchi Rosa and Cointreau for the Citronge. If the original is better than what I got, this is a very special drink indeed.
My favorite cocktail of the past two years. Not too sweet, and an intoxicating combination of flavors that somehow accentuates rather than masking the tequila.
