Used Drambuie in place of the Benedictine as it was what I had to hand. Still delicious! I’m more inclined to serve it over a big cube, however, because it’s so rich that I want to nurse it for a while.
Good idea. I’m going to take your advice next time I make one.
I like this. I used Lagavulin 16, a favorite for the Scotch component. I made one for an acquaintance who is a cigar guy. We had this with a cigar and he was quite happy.
Can’t say more than that.
I followed some of the recommendations and cut the maple syrup to a bar spoon full. And used Aztec chocolate bitters with the orange bitters. That cut back on the sweetness and orange and chocolate go together. At least for me.

I like this, tasty, not OMG! But tasty. I didn’t have Cherry Heering on hand and used Luxardo Cherry Sangue Morlacco. Jeez what a name. So not sure how it would be with the Cherry Heering. I will add it to my favorites list.
This is tasty. A bit on the sweet side of course but very drinkable. Not very 4th of July-ish though. Maybe it can commemorate some thing else?
It’s already summer in Florida, so I’m trying to move away from Old Fashioned’s, Manhattans, etc.
I’m a Daiquiri fan and this drink is great. Plantation 5 year rum from Barbados works really well and the clove flavors from the Falernum are spot on. What a wonderful drink.
I used 1.5 ounces of Rye and 1/2 of Coffee liqueur. And I didn’t have Montenegro so I used Averna.
Is it a lot different than the original recipe?
I don’t know, but it is tasty.
Very nice as a nightcap. Not too boozy and on the sweet side.

Kinda, sorta Manhattan/ Martini ish.
Nonetheless, it’s a keeper for me. Easy to make as it doesn’t contain any exotic ingredients that would cause me to scurry to Total Wine in search of some esoteric liqueur made by secretive Monks only during a full moon. 😊
Tasty. I guess more of a Boulevardier than a Negroni but no worries.
The different flavors meld together very well, not as Campari forward as a Negroni or a Boulevardier. If you happen to have the ingredients around give it a try.
It seemed an odd combination, but it works. Very smooth and tasty.
