Balanced and refreshing, pear and ginger is a good combo. A bit too high-volume for my Collins glasses, had to decant into a dimple pint and add more ice to get any ginger beer in. Nowt wrong with a longer drink on a nice day though!
This went down really well with the non-drinkers on New Year's Eve - tastes lovely
A bit underrated at 4 stars for my money! Old Tom and manzanilla is a great combination, and this is my favourite version of the pairing so far. Love the little hint of brine from the olives and the smooth note from the orgeat.
Delicious. Lovely herbal flavours and much less heavy/hard-hitting than your average digestif
Really refreshing after some hard work in the sun - maybe a bit dangerous even, it's very easy to drink. Love the light froth and the delicate agave notes
Great flavours but a touch sweet for me. I tried adding 6 drops of cardamom bitters and found that made it more balanced and brought out the herbal flavours in the Chartreuse a bit more
Does this have any relationship with the popular Finnish heavy metal band?
Probably, because apparently it was invented at a goth bar called Black Lagoon. One to make with Finlandia vodka maybe!
Chinola is a great liqueur and it goes wonderfully with mezcal. Lovely balanced recipe that isn't too sweet
I love mojitos and elderflower but unfortunately this is vile. The mint would probably be better muddled in the lime juice and liqueur to avoid bringing out so much bitterness, and crushed ice with multiple churns just makes it watery and bland.
Would never have thought of this combination - just wanted to see if I could use Moretti in any cocktails. Somehow this is actually really nice
Tones down the minerality of manzanilla nicely. Pleasant and crisp
Great balance of fruity flavours without being overly sweet. Would probably be awesome in summer as a low-alcohol option you can smash three of without getting wasted. I floated a thin slice of orange since I didn't have any lychees, which worked fine.
The step in the recipe when ingredients 4 to 7 are added seems to be missing. To be inserted between 3. and 4., right?
From what I remember you're right, the rest of the ingredients go in the shaker before step 4. I think there's been an automated standardisation to most of the recipes and some of them have got a bit muddled.
Very easy to make and tastes excellent. Nice to have a 3-ingredient Belle de Brillet cocktail too. Made it with homebrew dry cider and one bottle making four of these was very handy!
This is the best cocktail I've found for Black Tears so far. Brings out the chocolate and coffee notes, and has a great balance between fruit and spice. Do think it needs a good vermouth - Strucchi rosso works perfectly.
Love this one. It’s my kind of digestif. Crisp, complex and contemplative.
Tried this with lemon oleo in place of the sugar syrup. Very tasty - probably throws the balance a bit more fruity but I reckon it works.
Really tasty and fresh. Also works with one spoon of agave syrup in place of three spoons honey if you find yourself out of the latter, though you probably lose a bit of depth.
This was too sweet for me, but that might be because the blackberries and blueberries I picked were both very ripe. Even so, I'd cut the sugar syrup by half next time.
Love this one. Smooth, fruity and refreshing. The spray of orange oil from the garnish is really important to add body and a bit of zing.
With Giffard peach liqueur we found this a very appealing sweetish, fruity aperitivo that gained added depth of flavour from a couple of drops of peach bitters.
Made this with a homemade cider that wound up a little less bubbly than intended, which probably made the shake easier. Worked out great with a nice dry scrumpy-ish taste. Perfect for a sunny early afternoon.
