Mixed per the recipe with wet ice, with one exception: our simple is 1:1. For us, an excellent balance, rich with herbs from the Chartreuse and botanicals from the gin. (Bombay is what was close to hand.)

This has potential to become a staple before-dinner sipper on sunny days.

This is a nice drink, and I think my overall opinion of it was swayed by two things:

1. Although Margaritas are delicious at any time of the year, March isn't exactly peak season in Canada, and;

2. The tequila blanco we had on hand had some very smokey notes that didn't jive too well with the sweetness of this cocktail.

So, we (my bride and I) will revisit this one in warmer weather with a more neutral tequila and see how we fare.

Two sips in, and this drink is excellent. The warmth of the bourbon is brightened with the ginger and citrus, and smoothed out with the honey. A beautifully balanced cocktail.

Lovely variation on the classic Aviation.

Given that we are in the season of Halloween, I would propose the following variation:

Hounds Black Vodka in place of the traditional clear, and a dusting of purple edible glitter, for effect. Variation name: Fly By Night.

Thank you for maintaining this site; I cannot count the number of people I have referred here for the best in cocktails.

A lovely cocktail with an equally lovely complexity and evolution. We enjoyed our first ones with a square of dark chocolate!

As an experiment, I am going to add 1/4oz of creme de cacao to this recipe, just to see what happens. Will report back.

It works well, but I think the creme de cacao can dial back to 1/8 oz. instead.

I'm sorry that my first comment is less than glowing; my wife and I have enjoyed so many delicious drinks from your 15th Edition and this website, I really should post some,of the wins too.

This drink, flavour-wise, comes out a little thin. I wonder if it would be worth exchanging 1/2 an ounce of the gin for an equal amount of apricot brandy, or perhaps a 1/2 an ounce of triple sec to boost the flavour profile a little bit.

Very pretty drink with potential!
