Dry, crisp, refreshing and cleansing. Sip, contemplate and say to yourself, "The world is my lobster."
During the 1980s, the Vodka & Tonic knocked the G&T off the top spot as Britain's signature drink, its popularity helped by frequent appearances in television series such as ITV's Minder, broadcast 1979 to 1994. The comedy-drama series starred the affable but unscrupulous entrepreneurial trader, Arthur Daley, who was a regular at the Winchester Club, where his usual was "a large V.A.T", a wordplay on Value Added Tax. Arthur never paid for drinks, so "stick it on the slate" would inevitably follow his bar call.
