Almond milk and espresso coffee. What's not to like? It may seem counterintuitive to combine hot coffee and ice, but be bold.
AKA: Caffè alla Salentina
Caffè Leccese or Caffè alla Salentina is an iced coffee from Lecce, in the southern Italian region of Puglia, where it is said to have been created by Antonio Quarta, a coffee roaster.
Caffè Leccese is traditionally made with espresso and almond syrup and served 'soffiato' (blown), meaning you'll be served a cup of hot espresso and a separate glass with syrup and several ice cubes for you to combine. Or, 'shakerato' (shaken), with the ingredients shaken and strained into an ice-filled glass.
