My first menu item at Russell House Tavern (Cambridge, MA) back in 2013 when it sold for a mere $9 for the 4 oz build! Based off of the Metexa aperitif from the 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book.

What a pleasant and refreshing cocktail. Nice hint of spices and the tequila. A little on the margarita side. Would consider using Difford's Margarita Bitters next time. Wonderful on a warm afternoon or evening.

With the second half of my cocktail, I did add 2 drops of Difford's Margarita Bitters. Does enhance the flavours and blends all the tastes together better. For a full cocktail that would be 4 drops of bitters.
