From a long closed distillery, if this did not make this release special enough, it is the equal-oldest Brora bottled to date and the 12th in a series of annual releases, and due to diminished stocks apparently the last. Bottled from refill American and European oak casks filled in 1997.
Bottled at natural cask strength, just 2,944 bottles were released as part of Diageo’s 2013 Special Releases.
Sampled on 29/10/2013
Clear, yellow gold.
Pencil shavings, toasted coconut and fresh basil. Water amplifies oily notes with crisp green apple skin.
Dried apple and lemon zest with elegant smoke and chewy oak. Takes water well to produce an easy drinking dram.
Short-medium pear finish with crisp apple and light wood.
