Review and Tasting

Sampled on 12/04/2016

Appearance:

Clear, mid-golden amber.

Aroma:

Earthy, peaty and smoky with ash, bitter chocolate, fudge and brown bread. Faint orange zest. Water amplifies smoky peat with graphite (pencil lead) and coal dust emerging.

Taste:

Full-bodied, earthy, peaty and smoky with chilli spice. Faint antiseptic, chocolate sponge cake. Green apple emerges with water (which this malt takes well).

Aftertaste:

Chocolaty peat, coal dust and sweet liquorice with lingering chilli spice.

Overall:

Earthy, peaty and smoky with notes of graphite (pencil lead) and coal dust. With a splash of water, rich fruity green apple and chocolate sponge cake emerge, making this Islay malt very enjoyable.
