I really enjoyed this without the sugar.

Yep this works, used Bulleit Bourbon instead and it was a pleasant warm cocktail not overly coffee dominant
not sure it needed the sugar syrup though

I was under the impression that Bulleit was the standard (if nothing else given the perfect fit between "revolvers" and "bullets").

I used Mr. Black coffee liqueur, which is a bit drier than Kahlua, but for sweetness I used just a little maple syrup. I also added 1/4 oz. of triple sec to round out the flavor and play off the orange bitters.

This is my go-to when I don't know what else to make, though mine's a bit different.

I use a less-sweet coffee liqueur than Kahlua, and instead of any sugar, I add 1/3 oz sweet vermouth.

Found this one on liquor.com sans sucre, and I concur with other drinkers, can't imagine this being any sweeter

I tried Grand Marnier instead of the sugar syrup to amp up the orange flavor.

Are these Nick&Nora size portions? I had to go 1.5 to get a Coupe size serving. Or maybe I just like to drink more!

I had to double mine for a weird Nick & Nora/Coupe glass I have.

I must say that I am quite taken with this cocktail. Deceptively simple, I found it absolutely smooth and delicious with Bulleit bourbon and Kahlua. No additional sweetness needed. Will definitely make this one for friends.
