Perfect after dinner or evening cocktail. Did not taste the maple shrub much, but felt it calmed the flavours coming from the Fernet and sweetness from the Apricot.
Into my 4th year of serious cocktail making, I would agree that you must use good ingredients even for those cocktails with many tastes.
Not saying to use the top shelf, but a good middle liquor. The better you can afford the more reward you will have.
Interesting blend of flavors. The shrub hits hardest at first, but the Fernet does somehow poke through. By the second sip, the Cognac (used lousy Godet) and apricot have emerged. Much here to spark one's interest and imagination... Incidentally, I love drinks which feature ingredients I'm trying to purge (running low) and the first 3 fit that bill. Great find! I gave this a 5 with 1738 cognac. I gave it 3.5 with some other cognac which I don't remember. Cognac based drinks to me are those that are most dependent on which exact base spirit you use to determine whether or not it will be a nice cocktail or a terrible cocktail!
