Delicious well-balanced cocktail. Expecting bitterness but the apricot brandy helps to balance the vermouth and lemon juice to give a nice rounded drink.
I wanted to have another one of these today, but I ran out of dry vermouth. I had a some Dolin blanc vermouth in the fridge, and in order to avert tragedy, I subbed it in. And it was terrific! Sweeter, yes, but the apricot flavor of the Luxardo Albicocca really came through.
Perfect on a sunny August afternoon. Gin gives some herbal hints and the citrus and apricot add some sweetness. Slightly sweet (not obtrusive). Did add a few drops of Bob's Difford's Daiquiri Bitters and it balanced out the sweetness and added a few more different herbal flavours.
Refreshing and perfectly balanced, this cocktail is delightful on a hot summer's day. The four ingredients stand out individually, and simultaneously form a great integrated mix. A new favourite.
