As we teeter on the precipice of civilisation descent, I drink to an autumn of decline and release. Such tasty imbibings as this may not be available in a century, but what we will have we will likely treasure much more. To my fellow freaks and outsiders, HAPPY Pride month, whatever that means to you and yours ππ§ΈππππβοΈ. Let the punk roll on πͺπππ€·ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ€π°ππππ
Ooooh, I like this a lot! I used rittenhouse rye, daron calvados, carpano antica and nonino. The smell is gorgeous. Apple, orange and warm spice. Perfect for autumn. Itβs sweet enough for me. And quite boozy! I might need a bit more ice next time.
Always a nice cocktail to ring in the autumn season. If you're in Europe and use Calvados instead of Applejack, I would add half a bar spoon of maple syrup to add a bit more sweetness.
Please can someone give me some advice. I don't have Amaro Nonino, but I do have Amaro Montenegro and Amaro Averna. Which one would be better as a substitute in this cocktail?
Hey James, I guess you've already figured it out. But for other people perhaps: When I bought a Nonino, I thought it's not so far from Averna's cola-caramel-orange profile, but weaker, more delicate in flavour. My take would be to sub it with Averna, but 1:1 with neutral alcohol like vodka or neutral rum (grappa would be the best actually) to dilute it and bump up the abv to Nonino's 35% (70 proof). Hope it helps.
Very delicious Manhattan variant - similar to a sweet Manhattan, or a High Ryeser - except the applejack provides a leading apple flavor note. Excellent, but sweet, and boozy.
A beautiful autumnal cocktail. Intense, sweet, herbal, warning and bitter, and some wonderful spicy notes from the rye coming through.
I had slightly lower alcohol spirits : Sazerac rye and Avallen Calvados, so bumped up the latter to 35ml , and throttle back to rouge vermouth to 20. Could potentially even go 40 on the avallen.
Another delicious use for nonino apart from a paper plane!
