Went with the slightly less assertive Cardamaro and, lacking cacoa powder, an extra couple of drops of Bob’s finest choc bitters. Superbly rich, flavoursome, lingering bitter-sweetness (like life), vinous, candied citrus and berry fruits.
Good Scotch and good Vermouth make the difference. The Cocchi provides enough sweetness while the Cynar takes a back seat and does not overpower the Scotch and Cacao. The Cacao bitters (I put a full dash) puts this drink over the top. Well done, another winner. (5 of 8 of “Her Maj’s” Difford cocktails for the Jubilee)
