Made this again this evening and it was as wonderful as I remembered. This time did a "tiki drink" pour on the tequila (just a little over). Since cherries are just coming into season here in Southern California, we garnished with some fresh cherries. They were wonderful as they had soaked up all the flavours from the cocktail.

Little too medicinal.

Tried this with 30ml Reposado Tequila, 15ml Mezcal (I like Smoky kites and cherry a lot) and upped the lime Juice to 30ml (2/3 oz.). Wasn't quite right but got better with dilution. Fells sort of off but I wouldn't be able to tell you why.

I would agree, I think the smoky of the mezcal would fight a bit with the other flavours.

Didn't research this beyond your notes here... Three attempts in this order: Cherry Heering, Ginja Mariquinhas, Luxardo Maraschino... All rather different, as one would expect... And it kind of improved with each shake, with the latter two clearly outshining the saccharine predecessor, yuck. (16 Nov 2022, 5:32a)

Agreed! the introduction Luxardo Maraschino greatly benefits this cocktail so I have rejigged the recipe accordingly.

Outstanding. Living in San Diego, California, always looking for a new and refreshing version of a Margarita. This has wonderful hints of Cherry with the Reposado Tequila very much forward. Also tried it with the Difford's Margarita Bitters and it just pushed it up a notch. Great flavours.

The first of the English Cherries hit the supermarkets plump juicy and tasy so had to try this one. Dreamy - I cut back the cherry brandy slightly but muddled 3 whole cherries.
A really refreshing drink with the tequila making it a sour cherry experience
