For a name like "pinky," I was thinking it would be more colorful. Tasted great, but I opted to serve it up & it looked underwhelming. Will need to serve as instructed next time.
A really well balanced cocktail, suitable, as Elaine noted for a nice springtime day. I put a bit of mint leaves in the shaker, which added a nice spicy note. Else I could imagine to use Umami bitters instead of saline solution.
This one feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be. All the ingredients go together well, and the drink is pretty balanced, but the mix of all these things means it didn't give me much personality. I think taking something OUT would probably improve it.
I am usually a fan of orgeat but I think in this drink it doesn’t add anything worthwhile. I am going to try it with grenadine substituted for the volume of orgeat, and then it might also be pink. After tasting it further the other option would be to use only reposada as that might complement orgeat more. On third thoughts: a confusing drink!
I grew up during the latter part of the tiki culture (yes, I am that old) and I have always found Trader Vic's cocktails a bit too sweet for me. This cocktail is nice, but the sweetness hides the tequila. Added 3/4 oz more Reposado and it was much better. There are much better Tiki style cocktails.
