Triple sec sweetens dry gin with zesty orange while aromatised wine adds vinous notes. However, it's absinthe that sets this Martini-style cocktail apart...
Loved this. I wasn’t sure about how much 1/12 of an ounce was and so used a bar spoon. Might have been a tad too much because it dominated…. But I loved this drink!
Very delightful cocktail, but I love almost any cocktail with Absinthe. Did find it a tad sweet for me and may consider backing off the Triple Sec a little, but that may upset the balance.
Did try a few drops of orange bitters which checked some of the sweet, but did not upset the flavours. The bitters also added a few more herbal tones.
This looks like a fairly close variant (or an antecedent?) of the more-famous Corpse Reviver No.2. Given the lack of sugar here, it would be interesting to learn whether the original recipe of this cocktail specified the older (ie. sweeter) Lillet.
