Love this drink. One of the most overlooked classics out there. A lemon twist is essential to counter the sweetness of the Benedictine (but it’s not an overly sweet drink).

I thought the equal parts version was a bit too sweet for my tastes. I upped the gin, dropped the amaro and pamplemousse, and kept the lemon the same. Much more to my liking.
Really good, although probably a bit sweet for my profile as well. I’m curious to see if I might like Chase Hoffman’s version better. However, I do know of some people that would gravitate to this sweeter version.
Yes, this is an excellent, well balanced drink. Perhaps slightly on the sweeter side with the Benedictine, but it works well. Definitely in the rotation.
Enjoyable cocktail. I’m interested in trying it with mezcal next - I would anticipate it being a bit more complex.
Not bad. Although I prefer the traditional Vesper, this also works and provides a nice alternative that some would like.
Really enjoyed this riff on the Paper Plane and will definitely keep it in my rotation.
Didn’t have Genever, so used Ford’s gin. Wonderful like this, so I’ll be curious to try it with the original specs.
Loved this. I wasn’t sure about how much 1/12 of an ounce was and so used a bar spoon. Might have been a tad too much because it dominated…. But I loved this drink!
My initial version was overwhelmed by my use of Carpano Antica… it’s the sweet vermouth I had open. I’d probably go with something lighter next time.
Excellent cocktail. I used Carpano, which gave it that inevitable “cherry tootsie pop” taste… which is not bad, but I’m glad I increased the scotch to 1.5.
Enjoyable nightcap. Used Grand Marinier instead of Cointreau, which worked well. I could see that some might feel it is too sweet, but you could reduce the Benedictine by .25 if needed. Good as is.
A solid Manhattan riff. I didn’t have Cynar, so I used Fernet as a substitute- seemed to work well as the bittering agent.
Enjoyed this drink. A bit sweeter than I typically like, but I could see many people enjoying this beyond the “alcohol forward” group of enthusiasts.
Really liked this. Unfortunately, only had .5 of aquavit (trip from years ago to Norway), so upped the applejack. Would like to try again once I get some more aquavit… now I have a reason.
I liked this a lot, although I did serve it over a large rock. For an alcohol forward drink, this would appeal to quite a few folks.
