My instinct would have told me to use an Anejo Tequila in an old fashioned. Then again, I have never tried one. Is there a reason to stick to Reposado?

Thanks for the response Simon, I will give it a try!

Agreed. Anejo would perhaps be better suited. I need to remake and re-shoot!

Delightful! To make it less sweet, I upped the tequila to 2 1/2 oz. Cheers!

It's crazy how well Amaretto and Tequila work together, considering they come from very different parts of the world! I had already had this thought when trying your Italian Margarita cocktail, one of my favourites.
I agree with the other comments that this is a bit too sweet, next time I will skip the syrup.

Very unique blends of flavours. For my taste, not sure if it needs the syrup as I think the Amaretto would be sweet enough for me.

How would substituting simple syrup for agave work? What's the flavor of agave?

Would work well. You may need a little less sugar. Also try honey or 50% honey and 50% sugar syrup.

This is definitely a strange one, but I quite enjoyed the interplay of the reposado with the amaretto.

From my point of view this cocktail is far too sweet - either skip the Agave sirup, or halve the sweetening part of the cocktail.

Like nothing I’ve ever tasted. Elements of a margarita, but with smooth sweetness. And all of the layers of ice and stirring are a fun buildup. Perhaps a drop of a darker bitter would add a hint more depth (but likely at the expense of its clear color).
