Just as it says on the tin, a classic Negroni with strawberry fruitiness. Be sure to use sweet, ripe, small strawberries. (You'll still need to be a Negroni...
i steeped the strawberries (quartered) for a day or so before muddling. they came through with real presence. flavours work well but orange is far, far superior. decent enough drink, just not to my taste.
I had some of the strawberry Campari left. Tried this recipe with St George terroir gin and it took this to a whole new level. The forest flavours come over the top of the strawberry and remind it that a negroni was never meant to be that sweet.
The fruit makes this special without making it much sweeter or much more complicated. The fruit balances the bitterness of the Negroni; use your preferred Negroni proportions. With muddled fruit I just shake rather than stir, and I strain as usual; fine straining is overly fussy for a drink that ain't a martini to begin with. This is a template that can be used with other fruits and with White Negronis as well, e.g., a White Peach Negroni. Experiment to match ingredient brands/styles to fruits.
